An abstract Nihonga painting created with mineral pigments on washi paper. The shimmering particles shift gently with the light, giving the piece a quiet, grounded presence.
The work was created for a group exhibition themed around birds. The artist studied books on the dodo and made sketches based on historical drawings, using them as a starting point. Rather than aiming for realism, the painting blends memory, impression, and abstraction, eventually settling into the presence of a gentle white bird.
It is a piece shaped by observation, imagination, and the layered process of painting.
